Behind the classroom doors- 3PM week of Jan 3-6 2012

3pm Class Update

It was really nice to be back in school!

I gave each child the opportunity to be a “guest speaker” at rugtime to talk about their winter break.

I learned that Santa was very busy in Wilmette!

Speaking in front of the group is a great life skill.
I encourage the listeners to be polite ;  i.e….They should look the speaker in the eye, not speak when the speaker is speaking, and raise their hand if they want to ask the speaker a question.

This lesson went incredibly well!
I am amazed at how interested they are in each other’s lives and comments.
It is a mini-community; a mini family… it’s beautiful!

We also got movin’ and shakin to the many tunes in our Movement and Music class on Wednesday!

On Thursday, Miss Wendy will bring her guitar and energy (and I thought I had energy!!  Miss Wendy moves, sings, jumps and sings sooooooo fast!!)  to engage us.

Your kids love it when she comes!

When we planed January we planned for SNOW!
Now… I am not complaining… but it did throw a wrench in our plans!

So… yesterday we talked about why there is no snow outside.
Our budding meteorologists really followed the entire discussion!
Just ask them!!

The book Snowmen At Night inspired the adorable bulletin board in our classroom!
Be sure to check it out!

We will soon learn about snow owls and other snow friends!

We have lots of half birthdays coming up!
Please remember – we are nut free and egg free!

There are lots of store bought cookies that are egg free… so is ice cream …
and kids ALWAYS love goldfish!

Have a wonderful weekend!
