4's Update

We know that lots of our families had a tough week due to the weather and water troubles. I hope that things are improving for everyone. We had a water restoration crew at TUMC all weekend drying and sanitizing the areas that took in water. (Clean water!)  Luckily, the 3 Year Old Classroom and the 4 Year Old Classroom were completely unaffected,
The kids continued their study of art and artists. They learned about abstract art by examining the art of Pablo Picasso.  Next, they will create collages in the style of Henri Matisse.
Science with Mrs. Dashiell is always fascinating! This week Val demonstrated the force of inertia. She was able to show that a straw could penetrate an uncooked potato.  The kids were quite stunned!
We have lots of fun activities coming up! As a working parent I know it is impossible to attend everything you’d like to attend. Therefore, I will tell you in advance that the class picnics are very casual and if you are not able to make it or send someone please do not stress. Just let us know. Specials Day and the Very Special Moment are more meaningful and we hope that if you cannot make it that you can send someone to represent you. If that is not possible (and as a working Mom I completely understand) then please let me know and we will take lots of photos for you!

Parking

  • Please remember to pull all the way forward on Lake Avenue and leave your flashers on when you park the car for drop off and pick up.
  • Please make certain your nanny is aware of this also, since it is noticed that some nannies are not following this procedure.
  • We just want to make sure parking is safe for everyone and eliminate the need for others to parallel park.

4's Update

It was great to see everyone after spring break!  We had a very busy week.  Our unit of study is art, and soon your children will create their own art in the styles of the great masters.  You will be amazed!
And now.... this week’s highlights.....
On Tuesday we had a hands on science lesson on Sink or Float from Mrs. Dashiell.
On Wednesday Miss Laurie guided us through the process of making guacamole!  The kids mashed avocados, cut tomatoes, and squeezed a lime.  Add a dollop of sour cream and some spices and you have delicious guacamole!  Of course, we need tortilla chips for dipping. Well, the kid made their own chips!  Laurie had them cut unbaked corn tortillas using scissors.  Then they brushed on some oil and baked them.  The results were tasty, fresh chips!
On Thursday Miss Kari came for a Spanish circle time.  The kids really enjoy playing games with her.  We also had the following centers:
1.  A card game about identifying initial and final consonant sounds.
2.  Practice writing numbers 1 – 5
3.  Using rainbow goldfish to sort, add and subtract – and then eat our answers!
Here’s to more great weeks at TCNS!!
